On the telephone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affair of the Russian Federation S.Lavrov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey M.Çavuşoğlu

On July 22, a telephone conversation took place between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu at the initiative of Turkey.<br />
The ministers discussed the current state of the political settlement process for the Syrian conflict in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and reiterated mutual interest in seeing the Constitutional Committee formed as soon as possible so that it can begin work.<br />
There was also an exchange of views on the Idlib de-escalation zone. The ministers noted the importance of coordinating efforts to combat terrorism in order to fully implement the Memorandum on Stabilisation of the Situation in Idlib’s De-Escalation Zone, signed on September 17, 2018, following talks between the presidents of Russia and Turkey in Sochi.<br />
A number of bilateral issues, as well as the schedule of upcoming high-level political contacts, including at the highest level, were also touched upon.<br />
